The Contemporary Chorale presented “Christmas With The Chorale” on Dec. 14, 2019 at 2:30p.m. and 7:30p.m. at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church in Richardson. .
Under the direction of Artistic Director, Melanie Moore, The Chorale performed snowy selections such as “Beautiful December” and John Whitacre’s “Glow.” Audiences of all ages enjoyed festive pieces like “What Christmas Means to Me” and “Sing, Sing, Noel.” This concert also included The Chorale tradition, "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," featuring guest artist, Jennifer Wheeler.
In addition to The Contemporary Chorale, the performance featured the live accompaniment of collaborative pianist Crysta Jones. Choreographer Becky Fudge staged the performance.
Jennifer Juilfs Wheeler, soprano, is a Texas native who received her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University. She has performed a variety of roles, including Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi , Cunegonde in Candide, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, and Pamina in The Magic Flute. Ms. Wheeler has been featured as the soprano soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria , Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Magnificat, Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem, Mozart’s Litaniae Lauretanae, Mozart’s Mass in C, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Regionally, Ms. Wheeler has had the pleasure of working as a young artist with Opéra Louisiane, OPERA Iowa, and Des Moines Metro Opera. She made her debut with Pensacola Opera, singing the roles of Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto, and Micaëla in La Tragédie de Carmen. Currently, Ms. Wheeler is a section leader at Highland Park Presbyterian Church and a private voice instructor in the DFW area.
