Tenor and Conductor, Rico D. Hamilton, is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has performed and conducted many musical theatre and oratorio productions and performed many roles including Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime, Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, and several others. He has traveled abroad performing in such locations as China, Canada, Memphis, TN, and Petoskey, MI. Mr. Hamilton acquired his undergraduate degree in Voice Music Education, minoring in Conducting, and in addition has extended study in Ethnomusicology at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, IN. While there, he studied voice with the renowned Mezzo-soprano Marietta Simpson, was mentored in conducting by Dr. Michael Schwartzkopf and served as the Vocal coach for JMuse Productionz, a student-run Production Company. Mr. Hamilton has won numerous competitions and festivals and has used his gifts to inspire and educate. He has been in Texas educating young musicians for 10 years and loves his new home! Currently he is the Head Choral Director of the Singing Eagles at Rowlett High School (DFW Area). He is so honored to have received an invitation to perform with the Contemporary Chorale and excited to see how this relationship blossoms.
