Melanie Moore conducts The Chorale through some of Broadway’s highest notes and catchiest rhythms from fan favorites such as “Sweeney Todd,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Wicked,” “Aladdin” and “Kinky Boots." The chorale will also present a selection of treasured Broadway tunes from renowned composers Gilbert and Sullivan, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and many others.
The Contemporary Chorale, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the oldest, continuously operating choir in North Texas entertaining audiences since 1956. The choir performs in concert in May and December with selections from a variety of musical genres including Broadway, Pop, Folk, and Holiday tunes. The chorale is supported generously by grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Richardson Cultural Arts Commission.
Melanie Moore serves as The Contemporary Chorale’s Artistic Director. Ms. Moore joined The Contemporary Chorale in 2000 when the choir’s membership only included women vocalists. Since then, Ms. Moore opened the choir to both men and women and expanded the active membership to more than 60 performers.
